It’s also a biblical name.Įva 絵羽= Sketched feather. Ryukishi might have picked it up due to how it was the name of Shylock’s daughter in Shakespeare’s “The merchant of Venice”, a girl who escaped home with someone her father didn’t approve of, a reference to how Jessica wants to leave Rokkenjima and marry Kanon. Also it can mean “wealthy”, which is always ironic considering Krauss dilapidated all their money. Jessica though means “foresighted” which is ironic considering she is blinded in EP3. Jessica 朱志香= Fragrance of the red purpose. ![]() The summer part was mentioned in Ep 5, the ‘empress’/’ruler’s wife’ part might be a reference to how she’s Krauss’ wife. I’ve heard it can also be translated as ‘hideout of bones’ which might be a reference to how Krauss hid Kinzo’s corpse. Might be a reference to how Krauss dilapidated Kinzo’s money (Kinzo was the “warehouse of gold”). However his name it’s also a reference to how the stone lions turn to point the way to the golden land. ![]() Lion 理御= “Chariot of logic” or “driven by science”. Kinzo 金蔵= Warehouse of the gold… though Kinzo prefers to translate it as Goldsmith (See Ep 4) which is his wizard name with which he signs his grimoires… even though it’s an improper translation. The two alternate meanings can be both references to Lion. Interesting enough though 代 can also mean ‘replacement’ and 宮 can be also mean ‘castration’. I seem to remember though that in the past better explanations for the names were given on animesuki but, right now, I can’t find them. Umineko has simply too many characters for me to cover them all. Very likely I’m going to make lot of mistakes as I fail at Japanese.Īlso I’m going to make only the Ushiromiya, Ikuko, Amakusa and Erika. I’ll make a list but keep in mind kanji have more than one meaning and I’m just picking up the ones that seem to make more sense. Some kanji used to write the names seem to have interesting meanings… while in some other cases the meaning of the western name seems to be more relevant than the kanji used to write it. Junko loves Romance movies, hiking, and antiquing.Hum… I don’t seem to remember it was really discussed in deep, except than for some characters.Īnyway I’m not a real expert in this regard. When not shooting, Yasu is watching movies, listening to music, and environmental sounds. Yasu + Junko are always striving to heighten their visual and audio senses. ![]() The two have honed their process, learning to pace themselves and expect the unexpected. They are also meticulous in their shoot planning-they consider preparation the most important part of the process. Working as a team with another photographer can be complicated, but Yasu + Junko use it to their advantage-things always get done in a democratic way, and inflated egos are quickly dismissed. They always strive to convey that perfect mood through a still image. Soon the two met and began working together, building an impressive client list that includes Brides, Martha Stewart Living, Whole Living, Real Simple, and Neiman Marcus to name a few. Junko, however, did not find herself in a photo studio until age 24, when she began working for still life photographer Kanji Ishii. Yasu came to photography early on, starting as an amateur field reporter in elementary school, snapping pictures of his friends and family. Both Yasu and Junko are originally from Japan.
